What Really Matters

How Do I get To Heaven?

This is the most important question any of us may ask…..unfortunately the answer is often convoluted with many different opinions, and is not only from the Bible.  Here are some verses that answer the question straight from the Word of God.

John 3:16-17

16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. 17 For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him.

Romans 3:23

23 for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God

Romans 6:23

23 For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Ephesians 2:8-9

8 For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, 9 not a result of works, so that no one may boast. 10 For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them.

Romans 10:9-10

9 because, if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. 10 For with the heart one believes and is justified, and with the mouth one confesses and is saved.

Becoming a Christian is a simple process.

It is absolutely not about going through a ceremony, but rather about making a choice to believe in a promise (John 3:16). Each one of us have messed up (sin), and as a result are in a hopeless situation to be “Good Enough” to earn our way in.  If you are not sure, go through the Ten Commandments (Exodus 20:1-17), and see how many you’ve broken.  The Bible gives a bleak and hopeless picture of those who die while rejecting this offer of God.  (Luke 16:19-31) Fortunately Christ died on the Cross for the purpose of paying for all those sins.  He then came back to life three days later. He went through all of that in order to rescue us from the consequences of all offensive things we have done against God.  It is being offered to everyone as a simple gift to receive or reject.  If you are interested in accepting Christ, here is a simple prayer to receiving it.

God, I admit that I have done my share of things contrary to what you want.  I am ready to believe that Jesus Christ is your son, and that he died on the cross to pay for my sins.  I do believe that he was raised from the dead, and I ask him to be my Lord, and my Savior today.  In Jesus’ name, Amen.

If you have prayed that prayer, or have questions, we would love nothing more than to talk with you about what that means, and what to do next.   Our greatest passion is to help people make that decision, and move toward a healthy relationship with Christ. This will enable you to have greater victory over those negative habits (sins), greater fulfillment in relationships, and  most importantly, a deeper connection with Christ.
